Ryan Lovell is a Los Angeles Kansas City based Director and Cinematographer who specializes in action sports and lifestyle projects.
OVERVIEW
Ryan Lovell spent his youth making DIY skateboard videos on the streets of Kansas City. After graduating from UMKC, he was at the proverbial crossroads –– get a “real” job or make the foolhardy move to California to film skateboarding professionally. Thankfully he chose the latter and was soon rewarded with his dream job: a full-time position at Vans Footwear as a lead Director/Editor/Cinematographer. It was there that he honed his talent and style, traveling the world creating everything from network commercials to doc-style profiles to feature-length skateboarding films including 2016’s award-winning “No Other Way.” Moving beyond action sports, his superior ability to capture and convey action is complemented by his meticulous eye for detail, punctuated with whimsy, bringing emotional resonance to seemingly mundane experiences. Other clients including Go-Pro, Nike, Kodak, Redbull, Jeep, and Mountain Dew have come to value Lovell’s vision, creative versatility, teamwork, and midwest manners. Now back in his beloved KC, he brings the skills of a Hollywood pro home to tell the stories of the people and places he loves the most.
